Prepared for everything – in the office and the mountains
János Bendes is Senior System Engineer in the Application Operations team (AO) in Budapest. He's responsible for the products NetLine/Ops Classic and NetLine/Ops ++.
A target-oriented way of working is crucial in his area of responsibility. In his spare time, he takes a different approach and it’s more like: the way is the goal. He enjoys hiking in the mountains of different countries and would also like to explore them climbing soon.
What exactly are your tasks at Lufthansa Systems?
I’m part of the so-called AO, the Application Operations team, since day one. In this unit, I’m responsible for specific applications: NetLine/Ops Classic and NetLine/Ops ++. These applications are used by many customers around the world. I’m in direct contact with them in case of problems and I try to solve the issues as fast as I can to avoid operation critical situations. My daily work is to be proactive according to monitoring alerts, to collaborate with the development team and of course with the customers.
How long have you been working in this job?
I’m actually working for Lufthansa since 2013. However, there was an outsourcing in the meantime, so back then I became part of another company. But my job role has never changed. At the end of 2017 I had the chance to come back and I took the opportunity.
What do you do outside the office in your spare time?
I like to hike in the mountains of neighboring countries, and I like climbing as well. Unfortunately I don’t have much experience with it, so I’m doing it only inside of special climbing places, but in the near future I would like to climb a bigger hill. I also like travelling. My plan is to travel to as many different countries as I can. To get to know different cultures and habits, try local food and see every special part of the world.
So it seems you are prepared for everything in your job and in your spare time. What is your favorite hiking route in the mountains of your surroundings?
I like to go to Austria with my friends. Hirschwang an der Rax is my favourite hiking route. There are beautiful via ferrata routes. :)
What are your top 3 destinations worldwide and why?
I go to Malaysia every year to visit my friends, and every time I’m there we go to a new location. I really liked Langkawi Island and Tioman. I‘ve also been to Hawaii (O’ahu) and I definitely want to go back , it was such a peaceful and relaxed vacation.
What was the most exceptional food you tried during a trip?
Frog, prepared in various ways. :)
