The RFID Subgroup (RFID = Radio Frequency Identification) concerns itself with the technical requirements and possibilities of RFID systems and sets the necessary standards. Within the baggage handling process, RFID technology generates far-reaching process improvements and will replace today's one-dimensional barcode in the long term.
In addition, as part of the government-supported project PRISMA (PRInted SMArt RFID Labels) we pursue the goal of rapidly advancing the economic use of RFID in the baggage and cargo handling processes.

The RFID Subgroup is a subgroup of the BWG. As a strategic partner, we actively support the RFID goals within the IATA initiative "Simplifying the Business".
