ProfitLine/Yield Rembrandt from Lufthansa Systems linked to Amadeus Altéa Plan for maximum airline flexibility

Rossiya, the largest state-owned carrier in Russia recently completed an evaluation of options for a new revenue management system. The goal was to find the ideal IT solution for an efficient and profitable revenue management across the network. In the end, Rossiya selected ProfitLine/Yield Rembrandt, the revenue management suite from Lufthansa Systems. One reason for the decision was the leading position Rembrandt has in the industry when it comes to revenue management for regional and growing carriers worldwide. The final touch was, however, added by the fact that Rembrandt now features an interface towards Altéa Plan, the next-generation reservation system from Amadeus. Since Rossiya is already using Altéa Plan, its revenue managers can benefit from the speedy implementation of the system.

With the new interface, ProfitLine/Yield Rembrandt, the leading revenue management solution in the European airline sector, is making yet another step forward towards more flexibility for the industry. In the past, Rembrandt has been constantly enhanced by interfaces to all major reservation systems. Making ProfitLine/Yield Rembrandt compatible with Altéa Plan connects two of the industry’s leading products in their segments and gives airlines maximum efficiency and flexibility in their sales processes. The move will make Rembrandt even more suitable for airlines already using Altéa Plan as well as those not using a revenue management system yet. One of the major advantages of Rembrandt is the ability to customize the system to the airline’s requirements and complexity level.

Within a few months, five renowned airlines have opted for a revenue management solution based on interaction between Rembrandt and Altéa Plan. After the migration of Serbia’s JAT Airways, Rossiya and Air Baltic in recent months, Lithuanian Airlines completed its migration in April, followed by Estonian Air in early May.

ProfitLine/Yield Rembrandt offers a high performance and requires very little effort to implement, so the investment pays off quickly for customers. Rembrandt is also widely used internationally because of the numerous interfaces to renowned reservation systems.

Lufthansa Systems’ Lido Topas solution saves fuel and extends engine life

The paperless cockpit as pioneered by Lufthansa Systems gives airlines a lot of opportunities to improve the efficiency of their flight operations. The cockpit crew can use the Electronic Flight Bag for individual take-off performance calculations besides navigation charts, briefing documents and operations manuals. With Lido Topas, Lufthansa Systems offers a fleet independent performance solution that considers environmental conditions and aircraft specifics for its calculations. The Russian cargo carrier AirBridgeCargo is the latest customer to opt for the Lido Topas solution to optimize the take-off.

How much power an aircraft needs for a take-off depends on many variables, for example take-off weight, runway length, wind direction and speed, as well as temperature and atmospheric pressure. The pilot enters the relevant data during his take-off preparations and Lido Topas calculates the optimal thrust, the appropriate flap setting, the optimized speeds for the take-off and climb out as well as the engine out departure route for landing in case of an engine failure. Additionally, Lido Topas takes into account the aircraft specific limitations as listed in the operations manual.

By calculating the take-off data on the spot, Lido Topas not only simplifies the flight preparation and reduces the potential for manual errors but helps airlines to save fuel and to increase on-wing time of their engines. As full engine power is not always necessary for the take-off, a so-called reduced take-off thrust can be used, what leads to less stress for the engines. This results in a longer engine life and hence in significantly lower maintenance costs. Lido Topas is able to calculate an optimum reduced take-off thrust much more precisely than it would be manually possible with Runway Weight Charts.

Lufthansa Systems’ Lido Topas is designed fleet independent, allowing an airline to rely on one take-off performance solution for any aircraft type it operates.

All performance solutions of Lufthansa Systems are designed to ensure safe and legal operations, to save costs and to improve fleet performance. They are based on a close cooperation with international organizations and authorities, such as FAA, EASA, ICAO and IATA. Furthermore, Lufthansa Systems cooperates continually with aircraft and engine manufacturers as well as with airport authorities.
