Czech Airlines advances its crew briefing with IT solution from Lufthansa Systems

September 26, 2007

Czech Airlines (CSA) will optimize its cockpit crew briefing process by the web-based briefing solution electronic Briefing Engine System (eBES) from Lufthansa Systems. The advanced IT solution will allow an automated and integrated cockpit crew briefing process which helps the Czech carrier to reduce costs while simplifying processes and increasing transparency. Both partners signed a five-year contract.

Pilots need a number of documents to prepare for a flight, e. g. flight plan, fueling, weather report and flight leg details. Collecting and assembling this information manually is costly and time-consuming. eBES makes this process faster and a more efficient. CSA's cockpit crew will benefit from the introduction of eBES as well. They can access all the information they need from self-briefing terminals at their home base with a mouse click.

"Our decision was based on our ongoing successful cooperation with Lufthansa Systems," explained Vladimir Ostrovsky Executive Director Operations Control Center at Czech Airlines. "Furthermore, eBES is fully integrated with other solutions from Lufthansa Systems we already use, such as the flight planning system Lido OC."

In 2006, CSA decided to deploy Lufthansa Systems' IT solutions for network planning and flight planning and thus laid the foundation for an interest to integrate all of its operational processes on a joint platform the so-called Integrated Operations Control Center (IOCC) supported by Lufthansa Systems.

"I'm pleased that Czech Airlines has decided to extend the cooperation with Lufthansa Systems and to jointly constitute a step on the way to the paperless cockpit. This decision underscores Lufthansa Systems' position as CSA's strategic IT partner," said Stefan Auerbach, Senior Vice President Sales EMEA/Central at Lufthansa Systems.
