Silverjet plans flights with Lido OC from Lufthansa Systems

November 13 , 2007

British all-Business Class carrier relies on proven solution to support future growth

The British premium airline Silverjet Aviation has chosen Lido Operations Center (Lido OC), the quality flight planning application from Lufthansa Systems for their growing operations. The airline currently operates a fleet of three Boeing 767s in an all-Business Class configuration. From its London/Luton base, the carrier provides daily services to New York, with flights to Dubai starting shortly and more routes to follow.

Silverjet chose Lido OC because of its proven track record in airlines of all fleet sizes and business models. The solution is one of the most widely-used flight dispatch tools in the industry. Also, the carrier looked for a solution requiring only a short implementation phase. Lido OC is completely ready for use within just three months.

“It was important for us to find a provider whose systems can support our ambitious growth plans for the near future,” explained David Fleming, Technical Director and Member of the Executive Board, Flight Operations at Silverjet. “We were convinced from the beginning that the products from Lufthansa Systems were the perfect choice for our requirements. Besides, the selection of a top-class flight planning system reflects our premium approach not only in our on-board and ground products, but across our operations.”

“It gives us great pride to be selected by Silverjet for one of their core operational systems. Lido OC will support the airline in the important area of flight planning, providing an efficiency-focused approach. We look forward to being part of the Silverjet success story as it grows,” said Marc Szepan, Senior Vice President Airline Operations Solutions at Lufthansa Systems.

Note to editors:

Silverjet Aviation Ltd. is a British airline with a highly talented management team drawn from industry executives with decades of experience running some of the world’s best airlines. A Public Company listed on the London Stock Exchange, Silverjet aims to become the global market leader in exclusively business class ‘luxury’ long-haul air travel. Learning from the success of low-cost carriers, we fly a single aircraft fleet of 767’s in a one class configuration. We don’t have to subsidise ‘economy’ passengers, so we can pass on substantial savings to our customers. Silverjet employs highly experienced pilots, cabin and ground crew, delivering the highest safety and engineering standards under a licence from the British Civil Aviation Authority. Initially, Silverjet operates between London and New York. Services to Dubai are about to start. Our plan is to add other long-haul destinations over the coming years.
