Emirates to continue use of Lido OC from Lufthansa Systems for flight planning

November 12 , 2007

Emirates has decided to use the Lido Operations Center (Lido OC) flight planning solution from Lufthansa Systems for another five years. A contract to this effect was signed recently between the two companies. The Dubai-based international airline has been an established customer of Lufthansa Systems since 1996. Lido OC uses a large number of parameters to calculate the optimal route for each and every flight, thereby supporting airlines in minimizing their fuel and operating costs.

"As we will expand our fleet considerably over the next few years, we need a mature IT solution that will support our strong growth and enable us to further optimize flight operations and lower costs. We have chosen to continue our cooperation with Lufthansa Systems because Lido OC remains the most powerful solution available on the market," explained Bob Everest, Vice President Flight Operations Support at Emirates.

"We are proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Emirates. We have expanded our service level agreements significantly based on our previous cooperation with Emirates. As a result, our customer can not only be assured of an optimal system but also of dedicated service and support," said Marc Szepan, Senior Vice President Airline Operations Solutions at Lufthansa Systems.

Safe and reliable flight operations are at the core of any airline's operations. Lido OC from Lufthansa Systems fully meets this requirement. The solution combines safety and flexibility with the ability to lower costs. With its modern technology and user-friendly architecture, Lido OC covers all aspects of flight planning and the associated follow-up processes. Drawing on its in-built database, it automatically calculates the ideal route between two airports and creates reliable and easy-to-understand briefing documents for each flight. The advanced solution also enables passengers to benefit from safe and efficient flight operations.

More than 160 airlines around the world are currently optimizing their flight operations using solutions from the Airline Operations Solutions division of Lufthansa Systems.
