Southwest and Lufthansa Systems expand their cooperation
Southwest Airlines Co. purchased Lufthansa Systems’ Sirax revenue accounting solution in 2006 and the two companies have now expanded their cooperation by selecting Lufthansa Systems' cargo solutions. The AdvancedCargo Suite from Lufthansa Systems will enable Southwest Airlines to optimize its air cargo booking, handling and cargo revenue accounting processes.
“Lufthansa Systems has built a very powerful reputation in the air cargo industry. Over the past several months, we have embraced them as trusted business partners and a key to our continued success.” said Matt Buckley, Senior Director of Cargo at Southwest Airlines. "The AdvancedCargo Suite will facilitate Southwest Airlines’ strategic goal of enhancing service to our Customers as well as expanding our cargo business."
Southwest carries 96.3 million passengers each year. The airline intends to enhance its cargo business by optimizing some of its core processes and providing new features for Customers. The individual requirements and functions for Southwest were defined in advance during Southwest/Lufthansa Systems workshops. The cargo solution will be tailored to meet these needs in the course of the implementation effort.
"We're happy that after choosing the Sirax revenue accounting solution last year, Southwest has now decided to implement our cargo IT solutions as well. The expansion of our cooperation is proof of Southwest's confidence in us," said Bernd Appel, Senior Vice President at Lufthansa Systems. "Unlike other solutions on the market, the AdvancedCargo Suite has the decisive advantage of being system-independent and modular. This design is clearly focused on the needs of our customers."
Lufthansa Systems offers modules which interact for all core booking, handling and cargo revenue accounting processes. AdvancedBooking uniformly controls the booking process across all distribution channels and supplies reliable data to the cargo staff. AdvancedGroundHandling supports the handling and transport of cargo and enables automatic connections to customs and warehouse systems. AdvancedAccounting is a proven revenue accounting system for cargo companies which provides reliable flight operations data and considerably simplifies and accelerates accounting and billing processes.
Along with Southwest Airlines, Lufthansa Cargo has also selected the Lufthansa Systems AdvancedCargo Suite, resulting in economic and functional synergies through the further development of the modules for both companies.
