Heitkamp-Deilmann-Haniel group hands over operation and management of major IT services
Heitkamp-Deilmann-Haniel (HDH), based in Herne/Germany, has entrusted the operation and management of its key IT applications and servers to Lufthansa Systems as of July 1, 2007. The outsourcing agreement will initially run for three years. The agreement also covers the operation of the network infrastructure for the WAN and Internet, as well as the e-mail server, which includes worldwide access for connecting employees in the field. Lufthansa Systems will additionally provide user support through its own help desk service.
"We chose Lufthansa Systems after a detailed call for tenders," said the management of Heitkamp-Deilmann-Haniel GmbH. "The deciding factors were the great expertise of the employees, a proposal which was specifically tailored to our requirements, and the economic stability of the IT service provider."
Heitkamp-Deilmann-Haniel GmbH is currently overseeing more than 100 construction projects throughout Europe. With this outsourcing agreement, HDH hopes to gain more flexibility in its IT infrastructure in order to lower its variable costs and make its entire IT landscape more cost-efficient to operate. Lufthansa Systems will replace the previous system operator whose contract ran out at the end of June.
"By making our modern IT infrastructure available as a shared service, we offer our customers great flexibility in using the systems," explained Dr. Hannes Pfister, Senior Vice President Infrastructure Services at Lufthansa Systems. "Heitkamp-Deilmann-Haniel GmbH will gain considerable cost advantages with a usage-based cost model. Precise service level agreements define the high availability of the applications and servers."
