Garuda Indonesia selects Lufthansa Systems eTicketing Interlining Hub

Garuda Indonesia is about to implement the eTicketing Interlining Hub from Lufthansa Systems. The Indonesian flag carrier chose this innovative solution to facilitate the exchange of electronic tickets among airlines. This is essential for trips involving more than one carrier, given the IATA’s initiative to banish all paper tickets by spring 2008.

Until recently, only some of the relevant ticket information could be exchanged electronically between airlines and their international interlining partners. In preparation for a time when airlines use only electronic tickets, Lufthansa Systems is offering an eTicketing Interlining Hub. The IT provider previously enabled airlines to exchange information bilaterally and gain mutual access to ticket information via individual data links. Further expansion of these individual links would be very time-consuming and expensive. The new solution, however, simplifies processes and achieves significant cost savings.

The eTicketing Interlining Hub acts as a central distribution point for ticket information – so-called EDIFACT messages – between individual airlines or passenger management systems. It also accelerates the interlining projects of airlines and reduces the technical complexity of the connections.

Lufthansa Systems made its eTicketing Interlining Hub available to all customers using passenger management solutions.
