AirBridgeCargo Airlines updates IT with Lufthansa Systems’ solutions

April 24 , 2007

Russia’s largest scheduled air cargo carrier partners with Lufthansa Systems to optimize network planning and operations processes

Lufthansa Systems and Russian cargo carrier AirBridgeCargo Airlines today announced that they have signed a contract for the deployment of IT solutions from Lufthansa Systems to support the cargo carrier’s network planning and flight operations processes. The use of the NetLine, Lido RouteManual and FMS solutions will allow the airline to react more quickly to short-notice changes in flight plans and to improve flight performance.

"In choosing Lufthansa Systems, we have opted for a full-service IT provider who understands our operational flight processes better than all other providers in the industry. These solutions will considerably increase the efficiency of our network planning and operations processes and reduce costs at the same time. This will equip us technologically to be able to further continue on our steep path of growth," explained Denis Ilyin, General Director of AirBridgeCargo Airlines.

AirBridgeCargo Airlines is the first Russian cargo airline to operate between Europe, Asia and Russia using Boeing 747-200/300 aircraft. The airline flies from Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Luxembourg to Shanghai, Peking, Nagoya and Hong Kong in Asia and Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, S. Petersburg, Khabarovsk and Yuzhno-sakhalinsk in Russia. It plans to introduce transpolar flights from Krasnoyarsk to the USA in 2007. AirBridgeCargo Airlines is part of the Volga-Dnepr Group and has been active in the international cargo business since 2004.

"With this combination of solutions, AirBridgeCargo Airlines will be in a position to efficiently coordinate both its expanding route network and its fleet. And faster planning and operations processes will allow AirBridgeCargo Airlines to save costs in the long term," said Stefan Auerbach, Senior Vice President Sales EMEA/Central at Lufthansa Systems. "We have made tremendous strides in the Russian airline market in recent years and are very pleased to add AirBridgeCargo Airlines to our customers from the Volga-Dnepr Group."

The use of NetLine will help AirBridgeCargo Airlines quickly and reliably evaluate the results of their scenarios, plans and decisions for network and fleet planning. In detail, the Russian carrier has opted for the modules NetLine/Sched, Sched Slot Manager, Netline/Crew, NetLine/Ops and NetLine/Ops Maintenance Control. The integrated use of this complete range of modules allows AirBridgeCargo Airlines to fully benefit from a seamless integration of processes, and thereby improve flight plans from both an operational and economic point of view.

In addition, AirBridgeCargo Airlines has decided to take advantage of Lufthansa Systems’ Flight Management System (Lido FMS) and the Lido RouteManual. Both solutions from Lufthansa Systems’ Airline Operations portfolio are designed to enable AirBridgeCargo Airlines to ensure a smooth navigation of all flights. To ensure that all relevant data are available to the autopilot during the flight, the Lido FMS database "briefs" the autopilot with dedicated navigation data on a regular basis. The Lido FMS database contains specially prepared data for the entire flight path. With the Lido RouteManual, Lufthansa Systems breaks new ground in database-aided chart generation. Highlights of the charts, which are electronically generated from the Lido navigation database and capture all relevant geographical and up-to-date navigational information, include a clean and uncluttered design, clear color-coding and self-explanatory symbols.
