Lufthansa Systems introduces new system for electronic customs reporting for Canadian market
Lufthansa Systems has supported more than 20 air cargo carriers in the U.S. with its “CusLink” solution for years, automatizing and speeding up customs reporting processes. Replacing paper wherever possible, the software provides IT support enabling the cargo carriers to fulfil the strict regulations of the U.S. customs authorities. Now Lufthansa Systems has extended the functionalities of the software to fit the requirements of the Canadian customs also. Lufthansa Cargo and Swiss World Cargo are the first carriers to benefit from "CanCus" as recently certified by the Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA).
The software is tailored to meet the regulations of the Canadian customs. “CanCus” is an Internet application that provides them with electronic customs reporting functionalities under an ASP model. The system contains customs-relevant data from the cargo carriers' freight management systems which are being transmitted to “CanCus” via the SITA network. The system user can adjust, change or add the relevant data via web interface even before the customs information is dispatched. In addition, the status of all freight shipments can be tracked in “CanCus”, retaining the shipment or triggering dispatch, according to the CBSA requirements. |
