Outsourcing for Novasep Synthesis - Dynamit Nobel ensures availability of company-wide IT systems

June 8, 2006

Lufthansa Systems takes over operation of central enterprise servers and IT workstations

Under the terms of this new agreement, Lufthansa Systems will immediately take over the operation of the decentralized IT components for Dynamit Nobel GmbH Explosivstoff- und Systemtechnik at both of the company’s sites. This comprises the workstation infrastructure as well as the decentralized servers. The IT service provider will also manage all of the IT workstations for Dynamit Nobel and will provide user support through its own help desk center. This outsourcing project was unique because of its unusually short migration phase, which was carried out in just three weeks during ongoing operations.

The new operating concept will allow Dynamit Nobel to reduce its recurrent IT infrastructure costs while maintaining a high standard of service. The company can now plan its expenses for the operation and administration of its IT systems much more precisely.

Dynamit Nobel chose Lufthansa Systems because the IT service provider reacted flexibly to the company’s needs and was able to offer an ideal outsourcing package. “Lufthansa Systems is an innovative partner who meets all of our IT requirements and is capable of reacting quickly and flexibly to new demands,“ said Dr. Udo Haarhaus from Dynamit Nobel.

“The agreement with the chemical company Dynamit Nobel clearly demonstrates that IT service providers must have the flexibility to address special customer requirements when it comes to outsourcing contracts,“ explained Stefan Hansen, Senior Vice President Infrastructure Services at Lufthansa Systems.

Dynamit Nobel GmbH Explosivstoff- und Systemtechnik, based in Leverkusen-Schlebusch, is a highly sought-after partner to top international companies in the pharmaceutical industry. Since 2005, the company has been part of the French Novasep Group, a technology enterprise working in the field of life sciences.
The company develops complex chemical processes and expertly handles hazardous chemistry at its secure production sites. Dynamit Nobel realizes reactions which were previously impossible on an industrial scale and produces particularly pure versions of certain molecules for its customers. Depending on the product and the need, lot sizes may range from a few kilograms to several hundred tons per year. In the context of “customer synthesis“, the company manufactures intermediate products and agents for the pharmaceutical industry. These products serve as the raw materials for highly effective medications, such as those used for high blood pressure. Around 470 highly qualified employees work at its sites in Leverkusen and Troisdorf. The company’s sales rose to EUR 86 million in 2005. For more information, see www.novasep.com.
