Carrier optimizes its operational processes and builds foundation for integrated operations control center
Lufthansa Systems and CSA Czech Airlines today announced that they have signed a contract for the deployment of IT solutions from Lufthansa Systems for network planning and route planning. The Czech carrier has thus laid the foundation for bundling all of its operational processes in a joint platform the so-called Integrated Operations Control Center (IOCC). Integrating network planning and operational route planning will facilitate and accelerate the processes of CSA Czech Airlines significantly.
"We are confident that Lufthansa Systems will provide ideal support in the establishment of our IOCC. They have analyzed our needs with great expertise and an in-depth under-standing of our flight operations processes. This way, we will be able to accelerate our planning processes and reduce costs as well," said Pavel Javorek, Executive Director Development & Strategy - Informations Systems at CSA Czech Airlines.
The IOCC is used to monitor and control all flight-related airline operations including punctual flight processing, aircraft deployment and maintenance planning, crew rosters, route planning, aeronautical data, crew briefing, the response to delays, and passenger services. The agreement marks the beginning of what is expected to be a long-term partnership between the two companies. Discussions are currently underway regarding the introduction of other solutions from the Lufthansa Systems portfolio to complement the IOCC.
"The IOCC from Lufthansa Systems is unique in that it is the only platform worldwide that covers all flight operations processes. The integration of individual solutions provides high investment protection to our customer and significantly enhances the overall productivity of its flight operations," said Dr. Gunter Küchler, member of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Systems AG.
CSA Czech Airlines carried more than five million passengers in 2005, up 20 percent compared to the previous year. Due to the continuous expansion of its network, the carrier has boosted the number of flights by 18 percent to 40,000. Introducing the IOCC enables CSA to apply an integrated strategic approach to planning its long-term and short-term network processes, use resources most efficiently, and calculate optimum routes in terms of fuel consumption, weather and flying time.
