Aircargo Operations ACO at Bratislava Airport signs on with Lufthansa Systems’ air cargo handling system ELWIS to boost new business

Aircargo Operations ACO, the new cargo handling arrival at Bratislava Airport will be the third new customer this year for Lufthansa Systems’ ELWIS (Electronic Logistics & Warehouse Information System) freight handling system, following Dresden, Halle/Leipzig and the new Bangkok International Airport. The IT system covers the entire workflow from physical handling to documentation, automated customs clearance and complete invoicing of the handling services. It thus increases throughput, reduces costs and creates the necessary conditions for optimum customer service

The ELWIS system is running successfully at a number of airports including Luxemburg, Doncaster-Sheffield (UK), Stockholm Skavsta (Sweden), Billund (Denmark), Berlin, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Cologne, Frankfurt-Hahn (Germany), Warsaw (Poland), and Bucharest (Romania) as well as Quito and Guayaquil (Ecuador).

ELWIS anticipates new market requirements such as SLA monitoring and integrates the latest industry standards such as Cargo2000, IATA’s DGR e-list online integration, WLAN, interfaces to stacker systems, weight scales and integration of barcode scanning in the handling procedures.
Most recently, Lufthansa Systems has been enhancing the system in order to provide integrated RFID technology to its customers. The Free Trade Zone at the new Bangkok International Airport was launching customer for this feature and operates the Free Trade Zone warehouse with the innovative RFID technology.
