A showcase of logistics solutions at this year's Air Cargo Europe
At Air Cargo Europe from May 31 to June 3, 2005, Lufthansa Systems will showcase its cargo & logistics portfolio.
These solutions are designed to help cargo airlines and other logistics companies handle the wealth of
information along the logistics chain.
For all companies, it is highly important to keep their revenue management processes smooth and efficient.
Lufthansa Systems can look back on years of experience in providing both passenger airlines and cargo
airlines with solutions that meet their needs in this area. Among the highlights to be presented at Air
Cargo Europe is Lufthansa Systems' CRAS, a high-volume and automated sales-driven Revenue Accounting Solution
customized for the cargo airline market. CRAS provides comprehensive support for all major airfreight accounting
business processes and activities.
Developed in a Web-based client/server environment by Lufthansa Systems together with Lufthansa Cargo, CRAS
smoothly interfaces with various institutions in the airline industry as well as standardized interfaces.
The system provides data for sales and revenue accounting, financial accounting and management information
systems to support effective and transparent workflows, cutting overheads significantly and improving accounting
efficiency. CRAS can be used as a complete revenue and accounting system or be implemented singly, either as
stand-alone systems or in conjunction with legacy systems. The advantage for cargo airlines is clear: Keeping
their processes smooth and flexible allows them to cut costs at the same time.
Keeping clear of traffic jam in the sky:
Route planning with Lido OC from Lufthansa Systems
Conducting a flight requires some degree of preparation. Only precise planning of every flight avoids traffic
jams in the air and ensures that flights are operated safely and fuel consumption is managed efficiently and
ecologically.
Lido Operation Center provides airlines with an answer to these challenges. Or, to be precise, it is the
dispatcher who most directly benefits from this support. During flight preparation, the dispatcher first
determines the flight route taking into account national and international regulations and then prepares a
detailed flight plan. Weather conditions and data on airspace availability, distances, course, cruising
altitude, speed, time, fuel consumption and take-off and landing weights are factored in, as is the
aircraft performance profile. Once all data are in place, they are forwarded to the crew, air traffic
control and to various internal and external departments.
Lido Operation Center facilitates this process by automatically generating flight plans and distributing
flight-related data such as NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) and weather reports. As a result of the maximum
integration of aeronautical data, systems and work processes, Lido OC also allows operating costs to be
reduced and enhances an airline's operational flexibility. The system is therefore capable of much more
than just providing support for route planning, monitoring and adjusting operations. It is a valuable service
that runs in the background while at the same time ensuring that the sky remains a "traffic jam-free zone." |
