New solutions environment for flight and ground processes
Next-generation aircraft such as the A380, B777 or B787 and innovative new solutions for the on-board provision and transmission of data, particularly in the cockpit, offer airlines a multitude of new ways to improve their efficiency and to cut costs. Lufthansa Systems will showcase its "Digitized on-board processes" project in spring of 2005. With this project, the IT provider aims to offer airlines a process-oriented, end-to-end, modular solutions environment for all flight and ground processes in the future.

FlyNet and Lido electronic Route Manual have already become established names in the market. The portfolio of solutions has been expanded considerably to include Webbased Briefing for the preparation of briefing documents for cockpit crews; SkyBook, the customized Electronic Flight Bag; and Airport Mapping Databases for airport ground navigation. Developed in close cooperation between Lufthansa Systems and active pilots, these state-of-the-art solutions can be integrated with each other to create an open and service-oriented solutions environment. Connectivity to third-party applications is also planned. The intelligent and efficient linking of data streams across several aspects of flight operations enables our customers to achieve substantial cost reductions.

More controlling power for mid-sized airlines
Lufthansa Systems' new product suite "FinanceLine" was specially designed to meet management and financial controlling requirements in small to mid-sized airlines - airlines that are currently facing a very challenging market and urgently need integrated Enterprise Resource Planning solutions to keep their costs under control and optimize their business planning. Air Adriatic is the first airline to benefit from the new Lufthansa Systems products FinanceLine/Core and FinanceLine/CostControl.

The product suite is a powerful but easy-to-use solution based on a version of the SAP Business One standard software that has been specially adapted for airline use. The basis element is FinanceLine/Core, with comprehensive ERP functionality that covers all the most important business processes - from marketing through production to bookkeeping. This basis element is complemented by FinanceLine/CostControl, which includes a variety of modules to fulfill other airline-specific requirements in the areas of accounting and reporting.

Standardized interfaces, for example with operational systems in the Flight Operations Center, add even more value for the customer. FinanceLine and Lufthansa Systems' well-established NetLine product range make a perfect combination, particularly in the area of operations. That's why Air Adriatic has chosen not only FinanceLine but also NetLine solutions for crew management, operations and maintenance control.
