Lufthansa Systems takes further step in the Arabian market by winning Etihad Airways for its network management solution
With the National Airline of the United Arab Emirates, yet another customer has decided to
optimize its network planning with IT solutions from Lufthansa Systems. Other NetLine customers
include Air Canada, Finnair, Spanair, TACA and for example the logistics carrier DHL.
Etihad Airways will implement the modules NetLine/Plan and NetLine/Sched, allowing for an
integrated approach to optimizing the elements of resource planning and control. NetLine/Plan
will support the airline in developing, managing and evaluating long- and medium-term airline
schedule scenarios. This module is complemented by NetLine/Sched, addressing all aspects of
schedule development and schedule management.
Etihad Airways has been a customer of Lufthansa Systems' passenger solution since 2003 and has
recently made the decision to also rely on the IT provider's expertise for its global Wide
Area Network. Based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad was
established in 2003 and is fast becoming one of the elite international airlines, with
destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Destinations currently include Amman,
Bahrain, Bangkok, Beirut, Cairo, Colombo, Damascus, London, Mumbai, Munich, New Delhi and
Riyadh. Plans are underway to expand the network to Doha, Brussels, Frankfurt and Toronto in
2005.
