Etihad Airways signs up for further IT solutions from Lufthansa Systems
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has signed a contract with Lufthansa
Systems to add the IT provider's network management and MIDT (Market Information Data Tapes) analysis
solutions. The airline has been a customer of Lufthansa Systems' passenger management solution since
2003. At the beginning of this year, Etihad also entrusted Lufthansa Systems with the implementation
and the operation of its WAN (Wide Area Network).
Implementing Lufthansa Systems' network management solution will allow Etihad to receive crucial
support in managing long- and medium-term flight plan scenarios, as well as developing flight
plan schedules.
In addition, Etihad will take advantage of the MIDT Advance suite. Market Information Data Tapes (MIDT),
containing booking data from computer reservation systems, offer a huge pool of information. They provide
the airline with a detailed insight into its own data as well as that of its competitors. This is an
important source for answers to complex questions regarding bookings, agencies, network structure, hubs
and O&Ds.
Etihad will be the first customer to implement the module DataAdvance Regional. This feature allows for
a special focus on the markets relevant to Etihad from the entire pool of data. The solution will also
enable Etihad to evaluate its marketing and sales sites and monitor its markets.
