First-class air cargo handling at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports with Lufthansa Systems' ELWIS system
PortGround GmbH opted for the web-based version of Lufthansa Systems' air cargo handling system ELWIS (Electronic Logistics & Warehouse Information System). A contract between both companies was recently signed. Starting in June, Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports will be able to use a common system to exchange information relevant to air cargo handling over the Internet.
ELWIS enables cargo handlers to map the system step-by-step to their current working procedures- from physical handling to documentation, customs clearance and invoicing of the handling services. This will allow PortGround to optimize import, export, communication, the ATLAS connection to customs and the automated invoicing of all handling services. In mid-June PortGround will be connected to the ATLAS release 7.0 customs system. This will allow the company to benefit from this electronic and nearly paperless customs process.
"We used to spend a lot of time on multiple data entries and data maintenance. Now the system is hosted on a central server and can be updated and maintained centrally. This speeds up the process and improves the service for our customers," comments Gunter Schüler, Cargo Manager PortGround Leipzig/Halle.
PortGround GmbH is a subsidiary of Central German Airports Group (Leipzig) and offers both ramp and freight handling services at Dresden and Leipzig/Halle airports.
