Lufthansa Systems and IATA today announced their close collaboration in the IATA "Simplify the Business" initiative. The IT service provider for the airline and aviation
industry will contribute its extensive airline-specific expertise and its innovative
solutions to the initiative.
Lufthansa Systems will be involved in all focus areas of "Simplify the Business". These include
e-ticketing, Common Use Self Service (CUSS) check-in, bar-coded on boarding passes, RFID
tags (Radio Frequency Identification) for baggage handling and paperless cargo management.
"With our innovative products, we have competitive and pioneering solutions for all five key
projects of the IATA initiative. We are focusing on the development of solutions which can be
implemented quickly. This will allow airlines to leverage the benefits of Simplify the Business and
take advantage of long-term cost savings," explained Dr. Gunter Küchler, Managing Director of
Lufthansa Systems.
As a Preferred Partner to the IATA initiative, Lufthansa Systems will present its electronic
ticketing solution in detail at the IATA regional conferences, which will start in May 2005.
IATA launched the "Simplify the Business" initiative last summer to make travel easier by
removing complexity and the costs associated with it.
