First-class air cargo handling at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports with Lufthansa Systems' ELWIS system
PortGround GmbH opted for the web-based version of Lufthansa Systems' air cargo handling system ELWIS (Electronic Logistics & Warehouse Information System). A contract between both companies was recently signed. Starting in June, Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports will be able to use a common system to exchange information relevant to air cargo handling over the Internet.

Lufthansa Systems' IT solution optimizes slot management at AUA
Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa Systems have now signed a contract to use the NetLine/Sched modules Slot Manager and Slot Monitor. The Slot Manager helps to fast-track the entire slot coordination process and minimize errors. This way, up to USD 200,000 can be saved annually, depending on the number of slots requested by an airline each year. The Slot Manager is complemented by the module Slot Monitor, which guarantees absolute control of slot utilization and ensures that no slots are lost.

Lufthansa Systems optimizes traffic and network ground information for Lufthansa
Lufthansa Systems has implemented a new release of TANGO (Traffic and Network Ground Operations) at Lufthansa Passage. This IT system supports the distribution of information relating to all traffic and network ground operation processes. The release incorporates a number of new key functionalities, among them the distribution of navigation kit information. Navigation kits are sets of route charts customized for specific aircraft types. TANGO enables airlines to quickly switch chart kits in case of aircraft changes at short notice, which reduces potential delay times.

Austrian Airlines teams up with Lufthansa Systems to realize e-ticket interlining
Austrian Airline has now decided in favor of Lufthansa Systems' e-ticketing solution. The airline was particularly convinced by the system's functionalities, as it perfectly addresses the carrier's needs and comprises the business rules for e-ticket interlining based on Star Alliance business requirements. It will enable the Austrian carrier to exchange electronic tickets with all Star Alliance Partners and will be implemented stepwise for the different pairings until August 2005.

Positive performance despite a difficult market environment
Lufthansa Systems successfully ended business year 2004 with considerably improved earnings and an increase in revenues. The past year was affected by the ongoing difficult economic situation in the aviation industry and only weak growth impulses in Germany. Despite these factors, the company was able to increase its operating result by 56.4 percent to a total of 61 million EUR. Revenues rose to EUR 628 million in 2004 and were thus nearly three percent higher than revenues in the previous year, which amounted to 610.7 million EUR.
