A technological innovation in the cockpit for Lufthansa
Lufthansa Systems today announced that it is breaking new ground in
the creation of charts for aircraft cockpits with its "Lido Route
Manual". The subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group is presenting
a technical innovation for flight operations: for the first time,
charts are being generated electronically from a database. The new
charts, which are drawn to scale, support visual thought with their
clear color-coding and self-explanatory symbols.

Continues to Build Its Roster of Low-Fare Carriers

Lufthansa Systems takes further steps in the Russian market
Volga Dnepr has been a customer of Lufthansa Systems' flight planning system Lido OC since last year. The Russian freight carrier has now expanded its contract with Lufthansa Systems and will soon start providing the Russian charter carrier VIM-Avia with dispatch and flight planning services. This results in cost savings for both airlines. In addition, Lufthansa Systems will provide Vim-Avia with aircraft performance and FMS services.

Landmark study for regional carriers to join the Star Alliance
Lufthansa Systems has conducted a study to determine the Minimum Joining Requirements for regional airlines looking to join the Star Alliance. This includes such criteria as incorporation of loyalty programs (for ex. Miles and More) and connection to an extranet. The results of the study form an important foundation for determining the suitability of further regional carriers into the airline alliance. The study will set the requirements for Adria Airways and Croatia Airlines, two of Lufthansa Systems' MultiHost customers recently selected to join the Star Alliance. All criteria are to be fulfilled by October 31, which marks the start of the winter timetable.

Lufthansa Systems breaks new ground in electronic document capture with its Digital Pen solution
Using the Digital Pen and special paper, handwritten information can now be captured
electronically during the writing process. It is then communicated to an order system
within just a few minutes. On the surface, the innovative Digital Pen works like a regular
pen. At the same time, it can also capture, store and transmit information worldwide to
a digital system.

New customers for Lufthansa Systems' Lido Airport/ Obstacle database
Lufthansa Systems has once again extended its customer base for its Airline Flight Support portfolio. Amiri Flight, Royal Jordanian and Free Bird Airlines are now all able to take advantage of Lufthansa Systems' Lido Airport/ Obstacle database. This database contains all relevant information that is required for any possible application to determine take-off performance data. Every airport data set comes with a tailored engine out procedure, Engine Out Standard Instrument Departures (EOSIDs). These procedures are analyzed for optimum results in payload and safety, considering obstacles as well as engine/airframe combinations. The three airlines were particularly convinced by Lufthansa Systems' high quality standards and flexible pricing model.
