Atlas Blue, the newly-established low cost airline of Royal
Air Maroc, today announced that it will use FlexLine from Lufthansa
Systems to handle its sales processes. Atlas Blue customers will
be able to check flight availability, book their flights and pay
by credit card over the Internet or by contacting the airline's
call center. Atlas Blue will also have access to new B2B sales modules.
Customized to suit the specific requirements of low cost carriers,
the integrated FlexLine IT solution enables Atlas Blue to use several
different cost-efficient sales platforms and to achieve significant
savings in sales costs compared to the more expensive GDS (Global
Distribution System) product. The FlexLine system has a direct interface
to the accounting
department, which facilitates automatic payment processing.
FlexLine makes booking flights quick and easy for customers. After
calling up the reservation tool on the Internet, customers are guided
step-by-step through the flight selection and booking process. In
addition to enabling Atlas Blue to use the Internet and a call center
as sales channels, with its new module AgentScreen FlexLine also
serves as an efficient tool to manage the airline's B2B sales activities
with travel agency chains and corporate customers.
"We selected FlexLine from Lufthansa Systems because it gives
us the opportunity to integrate additional functionalities into
the existing solution at any time. This kind of flexibility is very
important to us as we want to continue our growth in a highly competitive
environment and thus need an IT solution which can be adapted easily
to our changing business needs", says Karim Benchekroun, Commercial
Director at Atlas Blue.
Atlas Blue will commence flight operations with the introduction
of its winter timetable on October 31, 2004. The airline will take
over the charter business of Royal Air Maroc and is intended to
grow as a low cost carrier with strong seat-only sales. Atlas Blue
will serve Marrakesh and Agadir from several major European cities.
Further routes to Europe are scheduled for 2005.
