Lufthansa Systems and Finnair today announced that they have
signed an agreement for the implementation of the SIRAX revenue
accounting system. Finnair will use SIRAX, the airline industry
solution developed by Lufthansa Revenue Services and Lufthansa Systems,
to control its entire revenue accounting processes.
The system manages airline accounting processes by comparing ticket
sales with concrete flight data. Integrated sub-processes also support
the billing of interline flights between airlines. The SIRAX system
is an important and necessary controlling tool especially against
the backdrop of complex fares, code share agreements, alliances
and air travel taxes and fees. The system also provides detailed
and timely information for an airline's management and accounting
department. SIRAX is an important milestone towards achieving optimized
revenue accounting business processes and significantly reduced
costs.
"We selected SIRAX because this complete solution from Lufthansa
Systems is the best in the market. The system is backed up by the
comprehensive expertise of the Lufthansa Systems revenue accounting
experts. We expect improved accounting quality and control, increased
productivity due to the highly automated nature of the software
and significant additional revenue after implementing SIRAX,"
says Markku Artti Head of Revenue Accounting at Finnair.
SIRAX is a user-friendly and scalable system that can be easily
adapted to specific customer needs. The solution is based on a technologically
advanced client/server system.
Lufthansa Systems will start the implementation project in October
2004 and expects to finish it by commencing routine operations of
the complete system in second half of 2005. The collaboration with
Finnair is a further step towards establishing SIRAX as the standard
revenue accounting solution in the airline market.
Finnair and Lufthansa Systems can look back on several years of
successful cooperation. Just this March, the two companies signed
a five-year deal for the use of ProfitLine/Price to optimize the
airline's pricing system. Furthermore, Finnair has been using NetLine/Plan
to efficiently manage its medium- and long-term route planning since
1997 and NetLine/Sched to analyze the operational capacity of individual
aircraft.
