Maersk Air and Star Air: New Customers of Lufthansa Systems' Network Management Solution
Following a decision to update their IT landscape, Maersk Air and Star Air have now decided to
implement Lufthansa Systems' Network Management Solution NetLine. Both airlines found their
requirements for an integrated, modular software system best fulfilled by the NetLine products
NetLine/Sched, NetLine/Ops, and NetLine/Crew from Lufthansa Systems. In particular, Maersk Air
and Star Air opted for Preferential Bidding, the NetLine/Crew module which takes care of crew
satisfaction by integrating personal preferences and needs of the crew members into the rostering
process. Making use of the Pref Optimizer, crew members can enter their individual preferences for
a given bidding period, e.g. for flights to a specific destination, night stops and layovers,
weekend duties, or early/late check-in.
Maersk Air is engaged in European scheduled airline services and charter airline operations.
Star Air, operating contract parcel flights within Europe, is a subsidiary and a 100% ownership
of Maersk Air. Today, the two airlines employ about 1,200 people, and their fleet consists of 34
owned or leased aircraft for transport of passengers and freight. Maersk Air serves 37 routes
from 14 countries in Europe to Denmark.
