Lufthansa Systems NetLine/Ops brings airlines faster back on track

New release offers advanced features, improves analysis and strategic planning

With the latest release of Lufthansa System’s market proven operations control solution NetLine/Ops it will be easier than ever for airlines to optimize flight operations control and respond quickly to irregularities. With its expanded range of features, airlines can increase their punctuality by up to five percent, substantially reducing the costs resulting from delayed or canceled flights, such as hotel expenses for passengers. NetLine/Ops is suitable for airlines of any size with any business model. Its flexibility is a particular advantage, since the solution can cover both dynamic passenger growth and changes to an airline’s business processes. The new release of NetLine/Ops offers new and improved functions, a modern IT architecture and a comfortable user interface. It reflects the years of expertise Lufthansa Systems has in operations control. Several powerful features have been added to NetLine/Ops, including programs known as business process wizards which make it easier to efficiently deal with operational disruptions. The reporting function has been improved as well, so planners can export query results to a standard table and use them for analyses and strategic planning. Furthermore, the expanded scenario management tool informs planners more quickly and comprehensively of the courses of action available to them. The Swedish carrier Malmö Aviation is the first customer to use the new NetLine/Ops solution in day-to-day operations. NetLine/Ops is part of the Integrated Operations Control Center (IOCC) Platform from Lufthansa Systems. The IOCC Platform is the first integrated IT platform able to control and monitor all aspects of airline operations which are closely interlinked in practice, including schedule management, operations control, crew management, flight planning and weight & balance. Because of the synergies it generates the IOCC Platform offers airlines much greater economic benefits than standalone systems.

Comprehensive IT outsourcing portfolio for the aviation market

High-availability infrastructure services from Lufthansa Systems lower IT costs

For any successful airline a high performance data network is as important as a profitable route network. Ticket sales, check-in, handling of baggage and freight, the information for flight operations and maintenance – every aspect of an airline’s business process depends on fast, secure and high-availability IT infrastructure across continents and time zones. Lufthansa Systems Infrastructure Services provides its customers with a complete portfolio of solutions designed to meet their specific needs and to lower their cost. High stability and availability as well as scalability are the key criteria airlines look for in infrastructure services. The IT infrastructure has to cover varying requirements – from substandard to peak loads. Furthermore, there is a need for usage-dependent price models that give airlines the greatest possible cost flexibility, along with cost transparency and flexible service level agreements. The managed IT services from Lufthansa Systems include Application Operation Services, Communication Services and Workplace Services. In combination with Security Services and IT Consulting, the portfolio offers all of the IT outsourcing components currently required by the market. Lufthansa Systems’ flexible and scalable Application Operation Services cover all airline applications, both Lufthansa Systems’ own applications and many third-party applications in the airline industry. Lufthansa Systems has a long term experience in extensive and complex IT projects for airlines. Beside different flexible application business models the company offers Managed ERP Services as well as Enterprise Information Management (EIM). With EIM airlines benefit from process optimization in terms of handling digital data, for example document management or digital archiving. Airlines have to invest a considerable amount of time and money to set up and operate a wide area network (WAN) which links their sites around the world according to the regional requirements. Lufthansa Systems can cut these costs by up to 30 percent. The Communication Services of Lufthansa Systems combine global network management and the latest IP telephony services, which are precisely tailored to an airline’s needs. Airlines can rely on services like SkyConnect, which includes network management, provider management and project management. Lufthansa Systems takes a multi-provider approach to these network services, which mean each network is composed of the best sub-networks of the various regions and local providers (best-of-breed concept). SkyConnect has already been introduced by 60 customers worldwide. The Lufthansa Systems Workplace Services offer innovative desktop solutions for complex and mobile IT workstations of airlines. For years, customers have benefited from the modern IT workstations that are provided and managed through operator models of Lufthansa Systems. With state-of-the-art technology, the IT provider offers a Workspace Service that fulfils all requirements regarding flexibility, mobility and efficiency. A standardized platform and the use of virtualization technologies allow customers to significantly reduce their IT costs and to increase productivity. Given the significant amount of money airlines have to spend for running their IT and to keeping it up-to-date, more and more customers recognize that the Infrastructure Services of Lufthansa Systems are the perfect solution for lowering cost and enhancing the quality of their IT at the same time.
