Thomas Cook Airlines opts for Lido/RouteManual

August 24, 2010

Lufthansa Systems provides British charter airline with high-quality navigation charts

Lido/RouteManual Thomas Cook Airlines will fly with the navigation charts from Lufthansa Systems. Both companies recently signed a five-year contract to this effect. The implementation of Lido/RouteManual will be completed in October 2010.

Frank Pullman, Managing Director at Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “We were impressed by the very clear presentation and high quality of production of the Lido/RouteManual charts. This combined with a very competitive contract term made Lufthansa Systems the clear winner in a rigorous competition.”

Lufthansa Systems' navigation charts are generated directly from its Lido navigation database, a unique source for worldwide aeronautical and topographical data. The charts include true-to-scale geographic information such as terrain features and rivers. They also include airport taxiway charts, approach and take-off charts, and a seamless worldwide route chart. The value of Lido/RouteManual lies in the easy legibility and the clear structure of the individual charts. The charts support visual thought with clear color-coding and self-explanatory symbols and that way enable pilots to see all relevant information at a glance.

Manchester based Thomas Cook Airlines operates a fleet of 44 Airbus and Boeing aircraft from 19 UK airports to short, medium to long-haul destinations. It is part of Thomas Cook Group, one of the world’s leading leisure travel groups. Condor which also belongs to the Group has already been using the Lido/RouteManual charts for five years.

“We are very proud that yet another airline of the Thomas Cook Group is joining the steadily growing Lido/RouteManual community. This agreement enables us to further expand our customer base in the UK,” said Stefan Auerbach, Senior Vice President Sales EMEA at Lufthansa Systems.

More than 60 airlines worldwide rely on the navigation charts from Lufthansa Systems for their flight operations.
