Freebird Airlines opts for navigation solutions from Lufthansa Systems
Turkish carrier Freebird Airlines will use the electronic route charts Lido eRouteManual from Lufthansa Systems in the future. Freebird has also opted for the Lido FMS data from Lufthansa Systems' aeronautical database. Both companies recently signed a seven-year contract to this effect.
The readability and user-friendliness of Lido eRouteManual makes it easier for pilots to make the transition from paper-based charts. Pilots can specify the degree of detail on the charts, which take into account the latest country- and airport-specific regulations and data. The Flight Management Systems (FMS) database contains all important route information, including altitude data and airport information, to optimize flight routes and support the autopilot in the cockpit.
In opting for the Lido eRouteManual and Lido FMS data, Freebird Airlines will now rely on two more proven navigation solutions from the aviation IT provider. The airline has been using the Obstacle Database from Lufthansa Systems since 2004 to identify obstacles on take-off and landing routes.
Freebird Airlines was founded in 2000 and is based at Istanbul airport in Turkey. The airline is a subsidiary of Gözen Holding, an aviation services provider. Freebird Airlines currently operates charter flights to 68 destinations with its fleet of six Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
