Ryanair opts for slot management solution from Lufthansa Systems
Ryanair, Europe’s largest low-fares carrier, and Lufthansa Systems signed an eight-year contract to implement the IT provider’s NetLine/Sched Slot Manager, one of the most powerful tools in the industry to optimize slot management. Implementation has already been completed and the solution now supports Ryanair in resolving the complexities of developing, implementing, and managing their slot situation. It is used to handle slot planning in conjunction with schedule development and slot requests and is integrated with NetLine/Sched, Lufthansa Systems' medium and short term scheduling system, thereby providing an even faster slot communication and reaction possibility.
The solution comprehensively fits Ryanair’s functional needs for a smooth and effective slot management. Ryanair wanted to establish an integrated solution with a quick implementation in order to support their growth targets. The airline also benefits from to the direct link to the slot coordinator of Europe (CFMU – Central Flow Management Unit in Brussels). With the NetLine/Sched Slot Manager the information is now accessible to all users in the operation department, which was not the case with the manual handling process previously in place.
Europe's original low-fares airline, Ryanair is still Europe's largest low-fares carrier. In 2007 Ryanair will carry 52 million passengers on 499 low fare routes across 26 European countries covering 131 destinations.
