Outsourcing of central SAP applications and servers ensures IT availability for lighting manufacturer Trilux
Trilux GmbH & Co. KG, manufacturer of innovative lighting systems, has entrusted Lufthansa Systems with the operation of its critical SAP applications. Starting in July 2007, the SAP applications and servers will be hosted in the Lufthansa Systems data center, initially for five years. Through outsourcing, Trilux hopes to achieve the highest availability for its critical IT systems and establish a more reliable basis for planning its IT budget.
"With this outsourcing agreement, we'll receive important IT services from a single source," explained Johannes Huxol, Managing Director IT and Controlling for Trilux. "This will simplify structures in our IT department and give us more freedom. Our IT department, which we'll maintain in its current form, will then be able to concentrate on its core competencies."
"It's very important to our customers that we focus our services on recognized standards like ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library)," said Dr. Hannes Pfister, Senior Vice President Infrastructure Services at Lufthansa Systems. "This makes central IT processes more transparent and calculable."
SAP solution in a new light
Lufthansa Systems will take over Trilux's existing FlexFrame systems – an IT infrastructure platform designed especially for SAP environments consisting of servers and storage components – and run them in its own data center near Frankfurt. The IT service provider will also manage the standard SAP R/3 software and the SAP Business Warehouse. Additionally, the SAP specialists at Lufthansa Systems will work together with the responsible Trilux employees to develop the SAP solutions further. The Lufthansa Systems help desk will provide user support 24/7.
