LOT now using Web Check-in from Lufthansa Systems

August 31, 2007

Thanks to Lufthansa Systems' Web Check-in solution, passengers flying with LOT Polish Airlines will be able to choose their seats and print out their boarding passes at home or while on the move starting in December 2007. A contract to this effect was signed recently between the two companies. Acting as LOT's strategic IT partner, Lufthansa Systems offers the Star Alliance member a full range of IT solutions.

By introducing the Web Check-in self-service solution, LOT is providing its passengers an extremely convenient and flexible way of checking in for a flight. It makes no difference whether the passengers have luggage to check in or not. "Comfortable travel begins with a smooth, efficient check-in process," said Karolina Stanislawska, Member of Management Board, Commerce at LOT. "Using innovative technology, we're cutting unnecessary waiting times for our customers." The airline itself will also benefit from this modern solution by being able to deploy its check-in personnel much more efficiently. "The implementation of this new application is a step forward in our successful cooperation with LOT," said Stefan Auerbach, head of Sales EMEA/Central at Lufthansa Systems. "We're pleased that our customized IT solutions will contribute to LOT's market success."

The Web Check-in solution is based on the Internet Check-in Engine from Lufthansa Systems. It controls the exchange of data between the interface and the respective back-end system. The interface uses so-called Web service interfaces to exchange data with the Internet Check-in Engine in accordance with airline-specific business rules. These rules can be configured individually for each airline.
