August 23, 2007

Asia's leading airline opts for NetLine/Plan and NetLine/Sched to upgrade its network management

Cathay Pacific Airways will soon carry out its medium- and long-term flight scheduling and network planning using the NetLine/Plan and NetLine/Sched optimization solutions from Lufthansa Systems. The two companies signed an agreement in July 2007 in Hong Kong. This agreement for NetLine/Plan and NetLine/Sched is the first time the renowned airline has opted for IT solutions from Lufthansa Systems.

Chitty Cheung, General Manager Airline Planning at Cathay Pacific, explained, "After a thorough analysis, we chose NetLine because it provided the flexibility and the necessary functionality to fulfill our long-term and short-term tactical scheduling needs. The NetLine software solution will also help us to automate a number of our business processes as we continue to seek for efficiency improvements across our business activities."

"We're delighted that a highly esteemed airline like Cathay Pacific has decided to use our NetLine suite. This confirms our own quality standards and the position of the product in the market. This agreement is another milestone in our increasing involvement in the growth region of Asia," said Norbert Müller, Senior Vice President Sales Asia/Pacific at Lufthansa Systems.

With these two products from the NetLine suite, Cathay Pacific will use an integrated, modular platform for planning and controlling all of the business processes in its route network. The airline will then be able to quickly and reliably run through various scenarios, generate plans and make decisions. This is made possible by the high degree of automation and the flexibility of the solution, which has secured a leading position in its segment.

Cathay Pacific is one of Asia's largest airlines and has been a hallmark of quality in worldwide aviation for over 60 years. By signing this agreement, it has joined a growing circle of around 40 well-known international airlines which are using products from the NetLine suite. In 2007 alone, six carriers have opted for the solution so far.
