Duty rosters "à la carte"
Duty roster planning for crews is a complex task, since it involves assigning crew members to flight rotations as efficiently as possible while observing complex legal and airline-specific regulations, and at the same time minimizing costs for hotel accommodation, positioning flights etc. Lufthansa Systems' crew management solution NetLine/Crew now also provides support for the method known as "Preferential Bidding".

When creating and maintaining duty rosters, this method takes into account the individual wishes and preferences of the crew members. Personal preferences can be very individual, for instance for certain flight routes, because friends live near the destination, or early shifts for early birds, or the wish to have free days at the same time as a partner who is also a crew member. Crew members can specify such wishes from anywhere in the world using the module CrewLink.

This Internet-based solution provides a convenient and direct link to the crew members thus taking over the task previously performed by the traditional crew contact unit. CrewLink supports automated check-in/check-out facilities at outlying units. Crew members need not make unnecessary trips to their home bases and requests and preferences are put in and maintained very easy at home or en route.

And last but not least, the module Pref Optimizer takes these wishes into consideration, thus helping to increase employee satisfaction - but without generating additional costs.
