April 14-16, 2010
Biltmore Hotel
Miami, Florida, USA
Based on the overwhelming positive feedback from more than 90 participants from 22 airlines in the Lufthansa Systems Americas Conference 2010, April 14-16, the event was a great success. This was due in no small part to the open communications and collaboration that characterized the event from beginning to end. The welcome reception on Wednesday evening set the stage for what would be an event charged with energetic exchanges and insightful presentations scheduled for Thursday.
The Biltmore, one of South Florida’s most prestigious resort hotels, was a great venue for airline industry representatives to convene and focus on the conference theme, “Strategic Solutions for a New Decade.” In attendance were industry professionals representing airlines from numerous North and South American countries. On the agenda were some of the industry’s top executives.
Once the program got underway, masterfully moderated by Lufthansa Systems Ken Moody, the conference attendees were fully engaged. Klaus Bernhardt, Senior Vice President Sales Americas kicked off the conference on Thursday morning with an impassioned welcome address.
Top-class speakers from the airline industry
At the conference, Lufthansa Systems presented top-class speakers from the airline industry. Jaan Albrecht, CEO of Star Alliance Services GmbH, and Alexandre de Gunten, Executive Director ALTA, elaborated on trends in the global airline industry, and in the Latin American market. In addition, several senior managers of airlines using IT solutions from Lufthansa Systems talked about their IT strategies and experiences with the deployment of modern IT systems. For example, Fernando Moura de Lucena, Manager Business Solutions IT at VRG Airlines (GOL Group), discussed in his presentation how low-cost carriers can sustain their business model with appropriate IT strategies.
After the speakers, the attendees dispersed into specific educational track session developed with core airline functions and operations in mind. Across the board, the participants gave high marks to both the information presented during these sessions and the insights gained from the ensuing exchanges.
On Friday, some airlines attended additional track sessions or specific on-site meetings. In parallel, others took the advantage to see multiple product demonstrations on Lufthansa Systems Solutions Marketplace.
In the afternoon, everyone was ready for golf on one of the area’s best course or sailing on the
serene Biscayne Bay.
It was a great way to close a conference that did exactly what its planners had hoped for:
Offer strategies, solutions and foster airline camaraderie and collaboration.
