More than 2.5 petabyte of data can be stored for the long term in Lufthansa Systems’ data center – that’s 2,500 terabytes or 2.5 million gigabytes. More than 2,300 servers are arrayed on a floor space of 6,500 square meters in Kelsterbach. Countless cables carry information for processing at speeds faster than the mind can imagine.
Here’s a point of reference: Home PCs typically have hard disks that hold 100 to 200 gigabytes. With this much power and speed, it’s no wonder that, in addition to Lufthansa, over 100 other airlines are customers of Lufthansa Systems.
